Eagle's Nest is the only lodge that allows pets. You may have up to two pets. Please keep them on a leash while outside and other cabins are occupied. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or bedding, so please bring a kennel if you suspect your pet won't read these rules, and ultimately partake of the furniture in your absence. Landing Lake is a sparkling 203-acre lake on the Wisconsin side of the Wisconsin-Michigan border. It is connected to 125-acre Mill Lake by a shallow waterway, great for kayaks, not great for the pontoon! The two lakes offer a combined 351 acres and over seven miles of shoreline for swimming, fishing, and boating. Mill Lake is shallow at only eight feet and low water clarity. Our lodges sit on Landing Lake, at the very end of Knuth Lane, a private road, We have 700 plus feet of frontage on 26 acres for you to enjoy.
We have fishing for northern pike and perch, with some large mouth bass, right out your back door. We have two piers, one for the pontoon and the other for lounging, swimming and smaller watercraft. Play in our large number of watercraft including: a small fishing boat with oars, four paddle boards, canoe, paddle boat, swim raft and kayaks. All but the pontoon are shared among the three cabins on a first come, first serve basis. The pontoon boat is available on a two hour reserve basis by use of a sign up sheet upon your arrival. It usually takes about leisurely hours to motor around Landing Lake. There always seems to be plenty of time on the pontoon for each lodge. Our cabin is air conditioned for those occasional hot summer days. Our beautiful and rustic stone surrounded gas fireplace is cozy when the temperature drops. We heat with forced air propane in the winter. The loft and large windows facing the lake are part of the charming full log construction of the cabins. The lodges each sport their own fire pit and chairs lakeside, as well as a large upper deck toward the lake on each home. The lodges are somewhat private with trees between the campfire pits and lodges. While you can see the adjacent lodge at about 100 feet or more away, there is still a sense of privacy because of all the trees. A walking path in front of the cabins is shared and leads to the two piers and boat house. We take the pier out any time after October 1, so if you choose this time period, the watercraft may or may not be available. Watercraft are available after June 1 for your use, and may be in sooner if weather permits. NO pier or boat access is available for your personal boat or jet skiis on the lake. There is no public landing and we don't have our own boat ramp. However, you could rent a boat locally, park it on the trailer in our parking area, and visit nearby lakes. There is room to park and turn around your boat or snowmobile trailers on site. However, if all three cabins happen to bring multiple trailers, it if first come first serve. In the winter, the trailer parking can get tight, so a recon mission and back up trailer parking plan is advised.
Though we're only about three miles from the town of Land O Lakes, one feels like they are in the middle of the woods. And in fact you are-- Nicolet National Forest and Ottawa National Forest cover much of the area surrounding Land O Lakes and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Located close to the snowmobile trails and only 20 miles from Eagle River, Wisconsin, the snowmobile capital of the world, you can enjoy the many winter activities the area offers. A main snowmobile trail, running east and west along County Road B, can be accessed by travelling down Knuth Lane, crossing County Road B, and going south about a mile down Portage Lake Road. Watersmeet, Michigan, which is about10 miles north, offers a casino, cross country skiing, a nearby downhill ski area and golfing. Look up the Frosty Snowmobile Club online and get a trail map. About one mile further west of us, on County Road B lies Black Oak Lake, voted a top clean Wisconsin Lake. A paved bike trail abuts County B and can be reached from the gravel road leading to the property. Black Oak Lake has a nice sandy beach, boat launch, day picnic area and changing room. It makes a fun day of great swimming nearby. You are welcome to swim in Landing Lake and jump off the swim raft. The water gets deep fast in front of the cabins, and the lake shore is heavily vegetated. We often see waterfowl of all kinds and enjoy loons and eagles routinely. Down a beautiful wooded peninsula trail past all three cabins is a natural small wading area, with a gentle slope.
We have room to park your trailers for boats or snow machines. However, there is no public launch or boat launch for your personal boat or jet ski use. Many nearby lakes and the Cisco Chain of lakes have boat launches. We will be happy to have you enjoy the cabin, but not so happy about any recreational vehicle or tent camping on the property.
We have many repeat visitors, so as soon as our calendar becomes available in September/October, book right away so you have your log home reserved for the following year! Maximum occupancy 12.
